Example of a spread bet on German Bunds

The Cantor Index quote on the December 06 Bunds is 11723 - 11727.

Opening bet: You think that the Bunds will rise, so you buy £15 per point at the offer price of 11727.

Your prediction turns out to be correct as after some time the price of German Bunds has gone up, so you decide to close your bet.

The new Cantor Index quote is 11757 - 11761.

Closing bet: You sell £15 per point at the new bid price of 11757.

Total profit =	(11757 - 11727) x £15
	30 x £15
	£450

However if the price of German Bunds had fallen and our new quote was 11707 - 11711, you would have made a loss.

Total loss =	(11707 - 11727) x £15
	-20 x £15
	-£300
